y despatch lo. 46 of 17th February, 1942.
Folice Inspectorate
representations.
Letters in almost identical terus have recently been sent by several members of the bong song rolice Inspectorate to their K.r.'s on the subject of the recognition of their previous police service. The officers oncerned are essrs. M. Jaul, R. Brown, L. Singh and J.D. Draw.
2. I attach a copy of the text of their letters and also copies of the replies which have been sent to the M...'s concerned.
should be grateful for your obse: vations on the two points which are referred to in the final paragraph of each of these replies.
3. All four officers attached to their letters to b.r.'s copies of Clonial secretary's letter of 4th March, 1948 (reference 5/ 1681/470), witich is based on terms of my despatch lo. 46 of 17th February. In fact, paragraph 4 of Colonial Secretary's letter, which deals with pension rights and quotes paragraph 4 of my despatch, does not of course apply to ex-Metropolitan Police, but only to ex-County and ex-Borough Police. I note that aul, Brown and Winch are ex-Metropolitan Folice and, as regards their pension position, may, therefore, be under some natural misunderstanding. Ex-Metropolitan olice remain covered by terms of revised letters of appointment sent with my Cavingram No. 51 of 28th January, 1947 (see also my Savingran Ro. 27 Staff of 30th January, 1948).
